Dec 27, 2009 · 440 is stainless steel so it will stay shinier and resist corrosion better ( would be good if you were to keep the sword outside). The 45 and 60 in the other 2 grades designates the carbon content of the steel. 1060 has more carbon which usually means it is stronger and harder, but more likely to shatter if hit hard enough.
